We are returned! 😀 I’ve only got two this time, but I’m aiming for more next week ^__^
These are both older books. The funny thing about Outcast Mine is that I marked it four stars and yet do not remember it at all. I may have even recced it before? I don’t know, I half wonder if I marked it thinking it was something else. But whatever I was thinking, it is an excellent book. So here we go :3
Outcast Mine is a prison planet story. The first thing that came to mind when I read that was Riddick, but the prison guards here are so much cooler than that :3 I totally love the warden in charge of it all, as well as the MC who was thrown into the prison for thieving. It’s got a mating thing going, but not of the insta-love variety, rather the by necessity, which I love. It all plays out really fucking well. Books like this make me glad I’m paying more and more attention to sci-fi.
This book came out in 2008 so I’m probably like the last person to read it. It’s been on my radar forever, and I’m glad I finally got around to it. The only thing that tripped me up was the names. I could not keep them all straight (and I probably can’t pronounce them for shit) to save my life. But, I was reading in airports and on planes, so I’m sure others will manage much better. I fucking love the wolf society and how it functions, how the world at large functions. I really want to crack into book two, but want to read some other stuff first. The only thing I’d warn for here is what some might perceive as dubious consent. I’d advise reading the reviews on GR for the spoilers on that point if you think it at all might bother you. But it fits, and I don’t consider it dubious myself, whatever that is worth.
And now I must get back to work, being away for two weeks and then losing my computer has so fucked me over on getting shit done. My new comp won’t be here until the 14th, awesome fun times >_< Have a good weekend, lovelies! <3 <3 <3
